Finished Steel
The company’s promoters, who have more than 4 decades of experience in Steel, started their journey in the Steel Industry in 1977 with Trading of Prime & Secondary Steel Coils and Sheets. We know the business inside out, and have over the years developed a global network base across the supply chain covering Major World Steel Producers, Service Centers, Indigenous Traders. Metcos’s presence across the Steel Value chain gives us a very unique edge over our competitors and a dynamic synergy in terms of the holistic approach to the Steel Business.
We are mainly sourcing Finished Steel Products from China, Europe, Japan, S. Korea, Russia, Ukraine, USA and India. The company is actively engaged in the Trading of these products in Asia, Africa and Latin America. We provide customised products to buyers as per the specifications given by them.
We also get Surplus, Overstock and Secondary lots from the Mills from time to time for all the grades mentioned below. Kindly contact our trading desk for any spot availability of such lots.
We are offering following grades of Prime Products
Hot Rolled Plates
Flat rectangular steel products produced from slabs, with thicknesses from 5 – 150 mm. Plates are used in shipbuilding, in the production of pressure equipment and vessels such as boilers, as well as in engineering, construction applications and large pipelines.
Hot Rolled Coils
Hot rolled coils are produced from slabs that are re-rolled at above re-crystallization temperature to produce a thinner sheet (between 1 and 20 mm). This long steel sheet can be bound in coil form, cut-to-length or slit into narrower strips to give it the desired shape.
Tube makers bend and weld the steel coil, sheet or strip to produce tubes for a variety of applications. Hot rolled products are also feedstock for upstream processing into higher value industrial products. They can be modified at cold rolling mills or by applying different coatings.
Cold Rolled Coils
Cold rolled coils are produced from re-rolling hot rolled coils under heat lower than re-crystallization temperature into thicknesses down to 0.2mm. This process improves the strength of the steel up to 20%. It also improves the surface finished and permits a tighter control of tolerances.
Common uses are tube and pipe making, white goods manufacturing, cutting to length and further processing by galvanizing and coating into higher value products. Higher grades of cold rolled coils are used for automotive applications.
Hot Dip Galvanized Coils
Hot-dip galvanizing is the process of coating steel with a thin layer of zinc by passing the metal through a bath of molten zinc. The zinc coating prevents oxidation of the protected metal, as it increases its corrosion resistance, contributing to its longevity.
Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where rust resistance is needed, and can be identified by the crystallization patterning on the surface usually called a “spangle”. Common uses for galvanized steel are roofing and walling, safety barriers, handrails, consumer appliances and automotive body parts.
Pre Painted Coil
Colour coated, or pre-painted steel, is steel coil to which a paint, powder or film coating has been applied in a continuous process prior to it being cut and shaped. It provides a durable uniform surface finish, and can be an alternative to conventional post-manufacture painting of steel parts. The coil is coated on one or both sides. Rolls apply first a primer and then a topcoat to the moving steel strip. The substrate is usually cold reduced galvanised coil, but galvanised HRC and even uncoated coil is used.
Building applications account for around two thirds of consumption, with cladding on steel frame buildings a well known use. It is also widely used for domestic appliance casings and for some furniture.
